Opal Socks and More

Not a lot of knitting done this week. We had company for the Victoria Day long weekend and were out and about most of the time. First I have finished the first Opal Rodeo sock and just started the second one this morning. I love these colours and look how just a bit of orange turned up at the toes.

I also finished the border on the mitred square afghan for my sister last week as promised. This is a lot of fun to do and I went wild with fibers, including everything from acrylic to cotton to wool to mohair and every weight of yarn from double strands of crochet cotton to bulky weights. That is the beauty of mitres and why I like them so much, I think. I just love experimenting with colour and mixing fibres.

And finally I started work on putting some squares together from my crochet exchange. These are all my blues and I'm putting a white square between each one and bordering all squares with 1 rnd of sc in Soft Navy and then joining them together with a slip stitch. I really like how this is looking!

Non-knitting content: I was totally un-impressed with last night's American Idol. Those two "original" songs they had to sing were awful! Why couldn't they let them sing songs in their own genres and shine? Anyway I thought Carrie was very wooden, nerves probably, and I hope Bo wins tonight. He's been my favourite all long. Then that's all my reality shows over for the time being. Thankfully, Canadian Idol starts on Monday and Big Brother will be starting in the next little while.

One FO and Several WIPs

Well I've finished the chevron socks from my own pattern.

I've also cast on for the next pair, will be using the same pattern but this time using Opal Rodeo. I absolutely love how these colours are knitting up.

Yesterday I received the last square for April's crochet exchange. These are all the squares I received for April.

More on the crochet front: Other than knitting I also like to crochet afghans and have just started working on a funky pattern from an old magazine. Have one set of squares done and am working on the next set.

As you probably can see I am addicted to knitting socks but I also have another knitting passion and that is for knitting mitred squares. This is how I use up all my scraps and odds and ends. This is a sneak peak of the afghan I'm making for my sister. I'm just working on the crochet border right now, which I should finish tonight while I watch American Idol. I sure do hope Vonzell is sent home tonight. I'm routing for Bo but I like Carrie, too. I've been hoping from the start that Bo and Carrie would be the final two.

And I've also started a second one, this time in my bedroom colours: purple and yellow.

Mail Day!!

Look what came in the mail today from Fun Knits.!

Opal Magic #1038, Opal Rodeo #1150 and Regia Cotton Tip & Top #4083

I'm in an orange mood right now and these will be perfect for summer socks.

Right now my S.I.P. is an original design I've been working on.

Using Patons Kroy Socks Hip Hop jacquard which it seems has been discontinued, love the colours, hopefully they'll replace it with something similar.
